Not “every industry is different.” This is what breaks, and what we do about it.
01
JIT and line-side inbound
The problem. Components that arrive an hour late stop the line; an hour early and there is nowhere to put them. Brokered capacity cannot hold a 30-minute window it has never run.
How we run it. Recurring inbound lanes get named drivers who know the receiving door, appointment windows are checked against hours of service before we accept them, and GMAT.ONE recalculates ETA against traffic so the plant sees a slip hours ahead, not at the gate.
02
Appointment delivery to customer DCs
The problem. Finished goods ship to retail and distribution DCs on strict appointments with chargebacks for misses; the on-time half of your OTIF score is your carrier’s on-time performance; in-full is measured separately.
How we run it. Appointments are booked and confirmed in GMAT.ONE, arrival and departure are stamped by geofence, and on-time delivery on dedicated accounts has been 99% over 24 months. POD is sent the same day.
03
Milk runs and multi-stop collection
The problem. Several suppliers within a region each ship less than a trailer; running one truck per supplier wastes trailers and dock time.
How we run it. We build multi-stop pickup routes on a fixed weekly schedule, sequenced so the trailer arrives at the plant loaded in receiving order. Priced as one route, not four loads.
04
Plant-to-warehouse shuttles
The problem. Finished goods move a few miles to an overflow warehouse or a 3PL several times a day; every live load ties up a dock and a driver.
How we run it. Dedicated shuttle tractors with drop trailers at both ends. Your team loads across shifts; the tractor swaps on cadence. No driver detention, and the plant dock stays open for inbound.
05
Line-down recovery
The problem. Something broke or a supplier missed; the part has to be on the dock tomorrow morning.
How we run it. Expedited requests go to the dispatcher on duty, not a queue. Same-day dispatch out of Chicago and DFW, team service when the miles require it, GPS link shared with the plant the moment the truck rolls.
06
Returnable packaging and dunnage
The problem. Racks, totes and pallets have to go back upstream on a schedule or the supplier stops shipping.
How we run it. Returnables ride the empty leg of the same dedicated lane, tracked by trailer, so the loop closes without a separate tender.
- Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive and equipment suppliers in IL, IN, KY and OH
- Food and consumer-products plants shipping to retail DCs
- Metal, plastics and packaging converters on daily or weekly outbound
- Plants with an offsite warehouse within 50 miles
- Any facility with a dock that is the bottleneck
- Suppliers with returnable racks, totes or pallets to close the loop
How we handle manufacturing
- What we haul
- Components and sub-assemblies, finished machinery in crates, metal and plastic parts, MRO supplies, inbound raw materials on pallets
- What it needs
- Plant appointment windows measured in minutes, line-down risk, recurring inbound and outbound on fixed schedules, drop trailers so the dock keeps moving, JIT expedite when something breaks
- How Goldmax runs it
- Manufacturing is where dedicated plant-site and drop-trailer programs earn their keep. We assign named drivers to a plant, drop trailers so loading is not tied to a driver’s arrival, and hold expedited capacity for line-down recoveries out of Chicago and DFW.
- Equipment
- 53ft air-ride dry vans, late-model tractors, ELD and GPS; no reefer or flatbed
